Magufuli inspects State House site, reaffirms relocation to Dodoma

President John Magufuli yesterday inspected the site for State House construction at Chamwino village, assuring residents that he will soon relocate to Dodoma from Dar es Salaam.

At the inspection tour, Dr Magufuli was accompanied by Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa, Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office, Policy, Parliamentary Affairs, Labour, Youth, Employment and People with Disabilities, Jenista Mhagama and Chief Secretary John Kijazi.

“Apart from the State House, the government will as well construct railway lines and tarmac road network to link Chamwino and surrounding villages to the designated capital,” Dr Magufuli declared.

He assured the residents that the government will adequately compensate the deserving evictees who will be relocated to pave way for the project, advising the beneficiaries of the compensation money to spend it wisely by erecting modern houses and establishing income generating projects.

“Many people, including government employees and investors, are coming here; a number of foreign missions have already expressed interest to relocate to Dodoma... you should grab the opportunity to sell farm produce and other products to the newcomers,” he counselled the residents.

Premier Majaliwa said the transfer of the government seat to Dodoma was in full gear, with all government ministries having already relocated to the new capital, with 2,069 employees.

“More government officials are still coming in,” he said, adding that he will ensure that the directives by President Magufuli on construction of the railway line to connect Bwigili area and Dodoma city centre in addition to ring-roads in the new capital are implemented.

At the construction site, President Magufuli and Premier Majaliwa participated in making bricks for construction of the State House. Earlier, Director General of the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Engineer Paskasi Muragili briefed the president on the proposals to develop the government metropolis in Dodoma.
