VICE PRESIDENT: "EVERY SECOND SATURDAY OF THE MONTH IS A DAY OF PHYSICAL EXERCISE''

Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan has given three months to all councils in restoring the government fast sports areas were targeted by people for their own private practices where also decreed that every second Saturday of the month it is day of practice
for all Tanzanians to strengthen their health.

Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassan has issued the directive after participating walks and launch a national campaign to control non-communicable diseases at the Leaders Club grounds in Dar es Salaam.

The Vice President has warned that if the executives of regions and councils who fail to restore these areas then quickly set aside other areas for citizens to practice as a measure to tackle non-communicable diseases.

In support mechanism to exercise, Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania Samia Suluhu Hassan has directed provincial and district leaders all put in order to practice at least one time per month.

"Declaration that every second Saturday of the month will be a day of practice for health because exercise is healthy and I advise citizens to practice and to establish and join exercise groups and the government will fulfill its responsibility to create an environment to practice throughout the country"

In other action, the Vice President has directed the Ministry of Health quickly complete the process of creating a committee to address non-communicable diseases that includes stakeholders from various ministries in the country.''

He insisted that the process must be completed on 1 March 2017.
For his part, Minister of Health, Social Development, Gender, Elderly and Children Ummy Mwalimu said non-communicable diseases have been increasing across the world especially in countries that are under-Saharan Africa including Tanzania where these diseases until now account for 27 percent of deaths Fund.

He said research conducted in 2012 involving district 53 in the country has shown indicators risk of those diseases where 26 percent of citizens are overweight, 26 percent have metabolic body and 25.9 percent are high blood pressure.

The survey also showed that 15.9 percent of people smoke cigarettes and 97.2 percent of citizens eat vegetables and fruit less than five times a day.

Health Minister Ummy Mwalimu said Tanzanians are able to deal with these diseases do physical exercise at least three times a week for half an hour, focus on eating foods appropriate, reduce the use of alcohol and avoiding tobacco use.

For his part, former President of the Second Phase Alhaj Ali Hassan Mwinyi in his appeals has urged Tanzanians to practice for protecting their health.

He said Tanzanians as they practice they exclude non-communicable diseases including heart disease, diabetes, spinal cord and nervous systems and kidneys.

The slogan for the campaign launch of the National Control of Infectious Diseases non is "Your Health, Your capital"
